My good friend and long time chiropractic advocate, Bill Esteb, offered these wise words recently:
Many forget or take for granted the highly-targeted and personalized nature of chiropractic care. That’s because, rather than focusing on the condition in the person, chiropractic targets the person with the condition. It’s a revolutionary point of view with far-reaching implications that have permitted millions to regain their health after exhausting the limitations of conventional symptom treating.
Sadly, many chiropractic patients are never acquainted with this profound yet simple truth. Instead, they think their chiropractor is treating their headaches, with adjustments metered out like the dosage of more familiar drug therapy.
Remember, chiropractic ONLY works when patients have the desire, resources and capacity to self heal, independent of technique, procedure or philosophy. It has never happened any other way.
His words reminded me of an old legend, in which two angels were instructed by God to come down to earth and hide the secret of life and healing from humankind. They returned from their mission and God asked them how they made out.
They said: Well we first thought that we would hide it in the deepest, most darkest depths of the sea. Then we thought humanity is very curious and they will surely think to look there. We then thought to hide it on top of the highest mountain peak there is. We then realized after some deliberation that man is very adventurous and will surely discover it if we bury it there.
Finally after explaining many similar possibilities to God they informed him of where they decided to hide it. They said at last Father, we decided to hide the secret to Life and health inside every man women and child because we knew humankind would never think to look within for it.
And so it is.
Your capacity to heal is far greater than you have been lead to believe. It is within you; it is your innate intelligence, your inner wisdom.
Regular chiropractic adjustments releases this inner power, your healing power. One of my mentors Dr Richard Santo said God doesn’t have any hands so he uses the chiropractors.
Healing only happens from within – out. It doesn’t happen any other way!
